Toward assessment for playful learning in early childhood: Influences on teachers' science assessment practices

In many countries, play is the vehicle for teaching and learning, requiring early childhood teachers to recognize assess children's demonstrations of knowledge capabilities as they are displayed during play. context science assessing what children know already, referred “assessment learning,” equips with required make purposeful decisions these playful experiences guide process skill development while following their interests. Consistent evidence since introduction national quality standards in Australia has identified a need strengthen teacher assessment. This research investigated teachers' assessment practices, influences on implementation suite long day care preschool settings Northern Territory (NT), Australia. Adopting multiple case study approach, semistructured interviews from three cases thematically analyzed. Our findings demonstrate that despite having specific tools support learning inconsistently applied.
